Bits & Bobs

A bit of a creative "dump", if you will, of a couple of poems & song lyrics I've written over the years. Some I've written melodies to, some I haven't yet. My aim is to put these to music & record them one day. I've just recently started playing piano & practicing singing again so hopefully that elusive dream won't be too far off :)

There's a lot to be said for silence

When all is said and done

GOLDEN LIES

These scenes are more than I can bear sometimes

Everyday more and more, the world is changing

So many struggle just to live their lives

While beautiful creatures live golden lies

The man takes half of what you make

Its so hard to get ahead in this life today

Waiting for the day when we all get a share

We all need a fair chance to make it here

Stop rewarding those fake human beings

We need to feel like we belong

Everything we see is drenched in lies

So I'm gonna get the truth out in this song

This damn world is full of too many contradictions

Hollywood crowns another Product Princess

One man dies from overeating,

While a little girl cries from hunger pains

CONTEMPLATION

I turn the key in the door and wipe my shoes on the mat

While my conscience pulls me this way and that

My house is warm, so on the couch I lay

But the warmth won't take the empty feelings away....

There are waves of joy whenever you are here

I suppose that's why everyone wants you near

You radiate something that I'll never have

And I remind you of a love you once had....

You were unsure at first but I wanted more

I remember the night you closed your bedroom door

You were like an angel come to rescue me

And your tender love swept me away to sea....

I ponder all of this as I lie in solitude here

I block out the world, it's reality I fear

But it can't be evaded; it's so stubborn it stays

And I think about your touch for days and days....

Then as my luck would have it, I'm not there when you call

I'm not there when you need me, or to catch you when you fall

I didn't mean to trip up, I've made a mess of things again

So I start thinking, 'is this really the end?'

It's sure going to take a while

For you to trust me again

But we'll get there somehow
