Emulating Bettie Page

On Saturday I got a new haircut. The aim was to get something similar to the style made famous by the legendary original sexy pinup girl Bettie Page.

Me before:

After:

I was pretty happy with the outcome. I dyed it black myself and got it done cheap at Salon Express - I'm on a budget and didn't see a reason why I should have had to pay over $100 somewhere else when I would have no doubt got a similar quality cut. I got the fringe cut quite low over my brows because it tends to bounce up a lot when it's dry. I'm thinking I'll get it cut a tad shorter though next week because my hair grows rather fast & the lady did say to come back for a free trim if it was too long.

What do you think? :)

It makes me feel a bit sexier, a bit more grown up & a bit more stylish.

Not only did I want to emulate Bettie Page's hairstyle but I want to start emulating her attitude: cheerful & with confident sexuality,
she thought for herself and was always a free spirit. She chartered her own course. She was independent. She bore no prejudice of any kind, and recognized no barrier to personal fulfillment. Page owned her own sexuality. Whether projecting innocence, or being completely wild and uninhibited, it seemed to be her choice, and either choice, wholesome or edgy, was fine with her, and she embraced them both. (Taken from Bettie Page's obituary.)

I think a lot of women could learn from beautiful Bettie's attitude to life.

  1. I love your fringe! I'm one of those people that gets really frustrated with having hair on their face, so whenever I get a fringe cut, I always pretty much grow it straight back out. Although in saying that, I'd love to get a Zooey Deschanel style fringe.. hmmmm..
