I wrote the lyrics to this song about 10 years ago. The melody was actually inspired by one of my favourite Ben Harper songs "Number Three" (an instrumental from the fabulous album "Will to Live"). When I was in the band Leghorn at that time, the guitarist, Chris Murphy, created a fantastic backing melody to it. I have a tape recording of it but no guitar tabs as Chris had everything he wrote in his head. He was an incredible guitarist with so much talent and passion. He also helped me through many an emotional roller coaster. Unfortunately he died in a horrific car accident at 27 years old in 2002, before he could reach his full potential. He was a true, loyal friend, a genuine virtuoso, and beautiful soul. I'll always remember him sitting in the loungeroom of his Willagee house, his precious guitar balanced on his knees, barefoot, with long unkempt hair, eyes closed, strumming the tune he wrote for this song, & singing harmonies. he was never happier doing the one thing he loved so much.
Pure Perfection
Pure perfection is fading away
This inspection has made me hate you
Your affection has taken it away
And the moment is pure perfection....
This can happen once in a while
You, you think that you're ahead of me
I don't seem to see it baby
You, you're only.....a version of me....
Deep frustration, a fading memory
Fearful thinking is all that's left of you
Inhalation has left me dazed and confused
And the moment is pure perfection
And the moment is pure perfection
And the moment is pure perfection....
Pure perfection, is there any left for me
Have I become less than what I was?
Leave me standing here I don't mind being alone
'Cos the moment is pure perfection
This can happen once in a while
You, you think that you're ahead of me
I don't seem to see it baby
You, you're only.....a version of me....
Pure perfection is fading.....away.....
